Alexander Lukashenko about industry: The situation is not bad, but this is no reason to rest on one's laurels.
The situation in industry is generally not bad, but it is not a reason to rest on one's laurels. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the meeting on the development of Belarusian industry, BelTA informs.
The work of industrial organizations and prospects of their development were planned to be discussed at the level of the head of state long ago. In late June, while appointing Alexander Yefimov as Minister of Industry, the President instructed to plan a report on the situation in this area. Initially, it was supposed that the minister in charge of industry and the deputy prime minister in charge of these issues would report on the state of affairs in industry. But in the end, the composition of participants and the block of questions were expanded.
“Then, during the staff appointments, we decided that with the new minister we would review the performance of industrial organizations (especially since the half-year is over) and briefly discuss our prospects,” recalled Alexander Lukashenko. - Judging by the information I have on my desk, the situation is generally not bad. Production has been steadily growing for several years. Last year the industry produced a record export of $6.5 billion for the last decade. However, this is not at all a reason to rest on our laurels and think that we have done everything already.”
