Lukashenko: Belarus determined to step up trade with Tajikistan

Belarus is determined to step up trade with Tajikistan. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in Dushanbe at a meeting with Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda, BelTA informs.

"The main thing is the economy, trade and economic relations. We seem to be making progress in trade. But the volume of the internal trade, even if it is $200 million, is not our trade turnover. And given that, we, together with Tajikistan, can make a breakthrough into the neighboring countries and regions. We know this for sure. Therefore, we are determined to increase the turnover between Belarus and Tajikistan," said Alexander Lukashenko.

"We will gladly buy your products, which you are ready to export: this includes cotton, metals, and agricultural products. And you are interested in buying goods ranging from food, clothes, to cars and machinery, elevators, buses, trolleybuses - everything we produce," the President said.

"The world has shown us what the market is. We've already seen it. Therefore, if we are friends, if we have no problems in relations, it is necessary to have a turnover of goods. We should exchange these goods so that the turnover was significant," added Alexander Lukashenko.

The President reminded that Belarus and Tajikistan are creating a joint carpet manufacturing plant. According to him, this enterprise is worth paying special attention to, because it has great prospects. "We do not create competition here. We should occupy this market together. We do not want to bring our goods here and dump them. Let's work together, especially since your people are familiar with it," said the President.
