Belarus extends food embargo on goods from Western countries until mid-2023

Belarus has extended the food embargo on goods from Western countries for another six months. This follows from the decision of the Council of Ministers № 865 of December 14, 2022, published on the National Legal Internet Portal.

Thus, paragraphs 1 and 3-5 of the decree № 700 of the Council of Ministers of December 6, 2021 "On the application of special measures against certain types of goods," which regulates the introduction of the extension embargo on a wide range of products manufactured in the countries, implementing discriminatory policies and unfriendly acts against Belarus, is extended until June 30, 2023 inclusive.

The import ban applies to a number of goods from the European Union, USA, Canada, Norway, Albania, Iceland, Northern Macedonia, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Montenegro and Switzerland.

The list of banned goods includes meat and dairy products, some vegetables, nuts, fat, confectionery products and more.
