Prisoners of the Bereza Kartuska concentration camp freed 82 years ago
For the first time Belarus celebrated National Unity Day, a holiday of unity of the Belarusian people. Celebrations were held all over the country. In Minsk, the highlight was a forum of patriotic forces "The Symbol of Unity".
We have revived the tradition to remember September 17, 1939 in the Belarusian history. 82 years ago we managed to free the prisoners of Bereza Kartuska concentration camp used by the Polish authorities for holding those who sought social equality and prisoners of communism and all those who sought social equality. These days they opened a museum in the former barracks and showed the life of the camp and the conditions in which the imprisoned Belarusians were kept.
