Mound of Glory becomes highlight for true patriots of Belarus
The Independence Day united thousands of Belarusians in a significant place for each of us. At the Mound of Glory, the memory of the heroes was honored, thanks to whom we live today in our country under a peaceful sky.
This is a monument in honor of the feat of the soldiers of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd Belorussian and 1st Baltic fronts. They participated in Operation Bagration. Fierce battles were fought for the liberation of Belarus.
Land from the hero cities of the Soviet Union fell into the man-made mound. This is a symbol of the victorious people.
Alexander Lukashenko came to honor the memory of the soldiers and ordinary people who gave us freedom and independence.
Belarus will never forget its heroes. Monuments of the Great Patriotic War are the face of the Belarusian land. They are taken care of every day. After all, this is a personal history and the pride of Belarusians for a common great victory.
The Mound of Glory is a sacred symbol for the Belarusians.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that a capsule with a message to future generations is laid here. The essence of it is simple and always relevant, especially at present: to preserve the memory of the Great Patriotic War and to be patriots of our Fatherland.
Therefore, in Soviet times, children were accepted as pioneers here, the Komsomol members swore an oath, and today the words of the military oath are heard. We come here on Victory Day and our Independence Day. The Mound of Glory has become a new point on the route of true patriots of Belarus.
Our task is to preserve the truth for the future in new difficult conditions. The sovereign Belarusian state has already created a modern generation.
It is very important for Belarus to stick to true historical facts not trying to rewrite them. The whole world should know about the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War.
The Independence Day is our highest value. This date and holiday for our generation must be defended. Attempts to dissolve the feat of the Soviet people are more and more visible on the European continent and beyond.
After the official ceremony, Alexander Lukashenko talked to the guests. Among them are the members of the Everest expedition. They presented the President with the State Flag and a copy of the Victory Banner, which they raised to the highest point of the planet.
Belarusians conquer heights and poles. The President offered to present the team of climbers, as well as the participants of our Antarctic expedition, with awards. The Head of State also talked to the youth.
