Belarus opposes aggravation and confrontation based on refugee crisis
On November 22, the President spoke about the cooperation with the European Union to solve the migrant crisis on the border. There is no dialogue! The contact persons should have been in touch long ago, as it was agreed during the phone conversation with Angela Merkel, but the situation shows that it is not in Poland's interests. Belarus does not want aggravation and confrontation on the background of the refugee crisis. Alexander Lukashenko keeps the situation on the border under his personal control. The situation is being monitored hourly so that the people in the crisis center had everything they need. The security measures have been enhanced. There are medics on duty round the clock. Food and trade are organized. There is assistance for those who want to return home.
According to the President, Belarus is preparing the second flight. The first one took place last Thursday. Some 400 people returned to Iraq. This is real assistance provided by the Belarusian side. And what about the West and international organizations? It looks more like PR.
President about some representatives of international organizations
If representatives of international organizations come to the refugees just to PR on this issue, they should not be let in there. If you come, you have to help them. If you cannot organize a humanitarian corridor, tell us why not. Help with something in everyday life for people. These international organizations have huge finances concentrated. Apart from the Belarusian Red Cross and our deputies, representatives of our authorities, no one deals with refugees’ problems. And when they ask these so-called internationals a question, they can't answer it: "We can't do that." Why did they come then? So, there is no need to worry about it: they arrived, but is there is no help - goodbye. Let them go to the Poles and deal with these problems from the Polish side. And we will deal with them ourselves.
V. Karanik: International organizations must take the burden of supporting migrants
International organizations should take the burden of looking after migrants. This was stated by Vladimir Karanik, governor of Grodno region, in the ATN project "Conversation with the President". The majority of people still want to get to the West, waiting for the EU decision and the opening of a humanitarian corridor by Poland.
