Belarusian scientists work on creation of biodegradable packaging from domestic vegetable raw materials
The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is working on the creation of biodegradable packaging from domestic plant raw materials. This was told by Olga Sazonova, head of the main department of regulation of waste management, biological and landscape diversity of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.
"At the moment the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus continues to implement an action plan to create technologies and production of alternative packaging. Thus, the main result should be the development of technology for creating biodegradable packaging from domestic plant raw materials. It should benefit not only the environment but the economy as a whole," BelTA quoted Olga Sazonova.
According to her, there are currently developed compositions containing inorganic antibacterial nano-additives for paper impregnation.
"The use of impregnations generally improves the operating parameters of paper, which allows their use in the production of heat sealable paper for environmentally friendly packaging. There is also a complex of research work to determine the impact of environmentally friendly packaging on the quality characteristics", - stressed the head of the main department of regulation of waste management, biological and landscape diversity of the Ministry of Environment.
