Reporters, editors, typesetters and publishers observe Press Day on May 5
Today is a professional media holiday. The Press Day is celebrated by reporters, editors, typesetters and publishers. On this day in 1912, the first issue of the newspaper Pravda was published. In addition, in 1581, on May 5, the printing house of Ivan Fedorov in Ostrozhsk published the first Slavic calendar in the old Belarusian language, called "Chronology". At present the oldest periodicals in Belarus are the newspapers "Zvezda" and "SB. Belarus Today." Despite the fact that electronic systems are rapidly taking over the information field, the paper media do not lose relevance. Moreover, many of them have also migrated to the Internet, telling about the topical issues on various platforms.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has sent a letter of congratulations to the workers of the information and communication sector on their professional holidays - the Press Day and the Day of Radio, Television and Communication Workers.
