Dmitry Mezentsev: Let the West hear how today thousands of hearts beat in one rhythm near walls of Brest Fortress
This morning, June 22, at the walls of the legendary citadel reconstructors recreated episodes of the defense of the Brest Fortress. Those terrible first days of the war. Then the defense of the fortress took the enemy's blow, not yet suspecting the scale of the tragedy.
The ATN crew met the dawn in the Brest Fortress! It was the first fortress to take the blow of Hitler's troops. Being on this sacred land, you realize even more how important it is to preserve the peace that our ancestors gave us. All began at night by tradition with a requiem meeting. We remembered those who were dying, but never surrendered to the enemy!
The nationwide memory again united dozens of cities. About 20 thousand people took part in the requiem rally. Along the graves of fallen heroes carried the banner of the 393rd separate anti-aircraft artillery division.
Dmitry Mezentsev, State Secretary of the Union State:
The victory is inseparable and united. The victory of the entire Soviet people. And let those who in Europe are busy demolishing our monuments, erasing our history, calling on us not to talk about the war anymore, listen to the way thousands of hearts are beating in the same rhythm here today.
At dawn, the fortress and thousands of people once again shuddered at the rumble of shells and powerful explosions! A military-historical reconstruction was held at the Kobrin fortification.
