State Control Committee of Belarus: New timber accounting system will eradicate the shadow turnover of timber
Now it will be possible to trace the path of each timber batch, from the logging site to the processor, from anywhere in the country: the electronic timber accounting system will eradicate the shadow timber turnover in the country. Implemented on the initiative of the State Control Committee, it has already started working in Belarusian forestries. Bringing order in this segment of the economy is the order of the President. During the year and a half of intensive work, controllers have established about two hundred thousand cubic meters of timber caught in the shadow turnover. New approach will make timber sales transparent.
We have seen that the primary abuses start at the timber processing plant. SCC initiated the introduction of electronic accounting of timber, which will reduce the risks to a minimum. According to this accounting system, the transported lot must contain a bar-code with the encrypted information. Using a mobile application you can find out, by whom and when the timber was cut, who released it, what document was issued and to which consumer it is transported.
The State Control Committee exposed the grey schemes of timber sales in Belarus and the most unconventional tricks invented by the criminal timber business.
