Lithuania closes border for cars with Belarusian license plates from July 18
On July 18, Lithuania bans entry of cars with Belarusian license plates. This is reported by BelTA with reference to the website of the Lithuanian Customs.
"Passenger cars with Belarusian license plates will not be allowed to enter the territory of the European Union. The ban on entry into the EU territory applies to passenger cars regardless of the citizenship of their owner or driver," reads the message.
Vehicles with Belarusian license plates, which are currently in Lithuania, must leave the country until January 18, 2025 inclusive. After that date, persons driving cars with Belarusian license plates after the published ban will be considered violators. They will face fines and confiscation of the car.
The ban does not apply to the entry of cars with diplomatic license plates registered in Belarus into the territory of the European Union, including Lithuania, if the cars are necessary for the functioning of a diplomatic and consular mission or an international organization enjoying immunity.
