Lukashenko instructs Ministry of Transport to work on increasing the transportation by rail

The work of the transport complex of Belarus under sanctions is discussed at a meeting, which is taking place now in the Palace of Independence.

It is transport that brings in almost half of foreign exchange earnings from export of services in foreign trade operations. Today the industry has to work in new extreme conditions, many logistic chains are broken (cargo transportation to the European Union, its sky, access to the Baltic ports are closed). This leads to costs for producers. The President noted that enough time has passed since the beginning of the restrictions not only to state the problems, but also to suggest ways to solve them.

"Despite the West's desire to cut us off from so-called civilized Europe, we continue to fly and maintain a high level of aviation security. The strategic goal is to expand air traffic directions, to give people the opportunity to fly on business, on vacation, to visit their relatives and so on," the President said.

At the same time it is important to maintain a high level of flight safety, not to stop the development of the aviation industry and continue upgrading the aircraft fleet, believes Alexander Lukashenko.

"But the price of flights should be competitive and not prohibitive for our people, whatever it may cost us," added the head of the state.

The President noted that some retaliatory measures against unfriendly steps in our direction have already proved their worth. For example, the ban on the movement of trucks from the EU in the territory of Belarus: we have about 1000 vehicles on the hook every day.
