Marzalyuk: Those who say that a thousand years are behind the white-red-white flag
Those who tell us that the white-red-white-white flag is a thousand years old, they are lying. We even know the authorship of the flag. This was stated by the historian, member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Igor Marzalyuk, in the project "Question number one".
There was a competition in Minsk in 1917 to create the Belarusian national flag, said the deputy. "If the flag had existed for a thousand years, there would be no need for a contest," he stressed. - A contest was held for the money of the Bolsheviks. There were several versions of the flag. One of them was white-red-white. Given the revolutionary semantics, it was accepted.
Igor Marzalyuk, historian, deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus:
It is a lie that the white-red-white flag was ever the historical flag of Belarus. Most importantly, the mass white-red-white flags in the territory of Belarus, including in Central and Eastern Belarus, was seen only in 1942-1944. Therefore, for the older generation, the white-red-white flag was associated as the flag of the polizei.
The historian reminded us that under the white-red-white flag and with white-red-white chevrons the 13th Belarusian SD battalion, the police battalion in Novogrudok headed by Boris Roguli, the battalions of the Belarusian regional defense which were created by the Germans (though people were running away, forced under threat of death), all these units participated in extermination operations, including against the Belarusian people. They burned our Belarusian villages.
While answering the question why it was important to replace the national flag of Belarus with the symbols of the Belarusian national flag in 2020, Igor Marzalyuk said that this is a key issue and explained: because those, who are for the red and green flag, the coat of arms and the modern anthem, are people, who are focused on entirely different geopolitical and socio-cultural values. These are people who do not want war with any fraternal people. They see nothing wrong with close cooperation with the Russian Federation. These are people who continue the traditional Belarusian identity," described the historian. - Those who are focused on NATO, the Pentagon, Western Europe and pseudo-European non-traditional values, they are united under the opposite symbols.
Igor Marzalyuk, historian, deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus:
"When you raise the white-red-white flag, it means only one thing - you are categorically against modern politics, modern Constitution, and you want your country to become an outskirt of the European Union and NATO bloc. And you dream of NATO missiles near Orsha, aimed at Smolensk. They dreamed of throwing the Great Patriotic War exhibits out of the museum, they dreamed of creating a museum of Belarusian occupiers."
