"Usakino" memorial complex of partisan glory opened in Klichev District after reconstruction
One of the largest in Belarus partisan glory complexes "Usakino" has been opened today after the reconstruction in the Klichev District. During the Great Patriotic War, the movement to liberate Belarus covered more than 18 thousand people, becoming the largest in history. The local woods became a stronghold: there was a printing house, newspapers and leaflets were printed there, an airfield functioned. To each diversion of the guerrillas the enemy responded with atrocities, burned villages and thousands of dead Belarusians. The memorial in Usakino became a symbol of courage and heroism of the Red Army and civilians. At the renewed obelisks the memory of the victims of fascist aggression was honored with a minute of silence.
They fought, lived and won. It's hard to imagine what conditions it all was in the swamps. But during the Great Patriotic War these very Usakino bogs became the place of life. Representatives of 70 nationalities of the Soviet Union fought here. All together, shoulder to shoulder - it is especially important in the Year of National Unity. We need to appreciate, understand, protect and pass it on to the younger generation.
The renewed tourist complex "Usakino" - the place where the life of the partisans was reconstructed - has also appeared. Blast craters are still preserved here. Thousands of Belarusians and foreign delegations visit it every year.
