Ordzhonikidze: Cooperation between Belarus and Russia within UNESCO is at the highest level
The Ambassador at Large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been awarded a Badge of Honor "Partnership" for active support to our initiatives at UNESCO and the strengthening of cooperation between Belarus and Russia within the framework of UNESCO. The ceremony took place in the Belarusian embassy in Moscow. Belarus and Russia, being members of the UN Organization for Education, Science and Culture, not only open monuments of architecture and prepare documents for their inclusion in the lists of the World Heritage, but also work closely in projects related to education and ecology. They also support each other in the governing bodies of UNESCO.
Grigory Ordzhonikidze, Executive Secretary of the Russian Commission for UNESCO, Ambassador-at-Large for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
There were 2 resolutions presented by the Russian Federation at the last session of the UNESCO Executive Board. One, of course, was not adopted, although Belarus actively supported us on celebration of the International Day of the Russian language. But in the current environment of countries of the collective West unfriendly to us, this resolution was blocked. But another resolution in the field of education, in particular on the UNESCO UNITWIN Chair programme, was supported in spite of everything. In today's conditions it is amazing. Therefore, our areas of cooperation at UNESCO are the widest, really friendly relations among National Commissions. We shall widen and deepen them, and promote them further.
Belarus joined UNESCO in 1954. Today, the World Heritage List includes "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" National Park, "Mir" Castle Complex, Radziwill Residence in Nesvizh and one of the Duga Struve sites.
