Orthodox celebrate Honeymoon Savior
Today in the Orthodox Church worships the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, the image of the Savior and the icon of Our Lady of Vladimir. And in the nation, the date is more commonly known as the Honeymoon Savior.
On the holiday, beekeepers bring honey from the new harvest to the churches, so that after the divine service to consecrate the product and treat everyone who wants it. According to tradition, on this day everyone should taste fresh honey.
The Honeymoon Savior opens the sequence ofAugust Orthodox feasts, followed by the Apple and Bread Feasts. Today is the start of the Dormition Fast. It lasts only two weeks, but it is equal to Lent in its severity.
