President of Belarus signs decree on conscription and military service in reserve
On January 24, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree №19 "On military service and conscription to the reserve," BelTA informs.
The document provides for conscription of Belarusian male citizens, who have turned 18 by the draft day and who are not entitled to deferment of call-up, citizens of conscription age, who have lost the right to deferment, as well as citizens of the first-year students of higher education institutions of agricultural profile, eligible for deferment of call-up for further education and willing to serve in the reserves.
The adoption of this decree will allow the bodies of state administration, local executive and administrative bodies to take measures in time to call up citizens for fixed-term military service and service in the reserve.
At the same time, the decree provides for the retirement of conscripts who have served their full term of military service.
