President: Judicial reform makes it possible to make justice in the country more human
On the eve of the landmark date, the centennial anniversary of the Supreme Court, the head of state today presented Belarusian judges with state awards. They are real professionals. Those, who have contributed to strengthening the judicial system of our state and thanks to whom the Belarusian justice continues to improve dynamically. The judicial system in Belarus has undergone many changes. Another stage of one of the reforms came to an end quite recently. It coincided with the constitutional reform. For the first time in its history the Supreme Court received constitutional status. The basic law regulated the general issues of the judicial system and the status of judges, also taking into account the formation of the new body of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly. The All-Belarusian People's Assembly was delegated a part of the powers of the head of the state. It will form the highest judicial bodies of the country and solve a number of other issues.
"It is not my merit. It is first of all your merit. You have always initiated some innovations and innovations before the President, and I have never refused you. And that is how we have passed through three stages of reforming our system," said Alexander Lukashenko.
"Today, the President no longer has the powers that he had before changes to the Constitution. You will be elected by representatives of the people at the All-Belarusian People's Assembly. And this is a very serious step. Am I worried about it? Yes, it is a bit of a worry, because the judicial power is the judicial power. But I am sure that we will cope with it," stressed Alexander Lukashenko.
The recent reform has improved the organization of the courts. Audio recording of hearings was introduced. This made justice more public. And at the same time, the number of conflict situations decreased. There were practically no complaints on behavior of judges and violation of rules of judicial process.
Irina Tylets, Judge, Secretary of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of Belarus:
“We try to go ahead, we always suggest some ideas, improve our legislation. I'm very thankful to our President, Alexander Lukashenko, who supports us.”
