Placement of nuclear weapons in Belarus is a step to deter the West - Tolstoy
Moscow and Minsk within the framework of the Union State are ready to ensure their security in defense against external threats. Therefore, the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus is only a deterrent to aggressive actions of the West and a way to preserve its sovereignty. - Opinion of Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma Petr Tolstoy.
Petr Tolstoy, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia:
“Nuclear weapons are a weapon of deterrence. In this case, Belarus is guaranteed from any large-scale, so to speak, aggressive actions on the part of the West or its neighbors by the presence of nuclear weapons. But I very much hope that we will not have to unmask these nuclear weapons, let alone use them. This is a factor of political, if you like, deterrence of aggressive Western figures who want this war against Russia and against Belarus, including to change our way of life, to deprive us of our sovereignty and the opportunity to decide for ourselves how to live our lives.”
