Fee for crossing border by car to be introduced in Brest Region on February 1

Brest Region Council of Deputies, decision № 390 of December 30, 2022, introduces a local fee for crossing the state border by vehicles at the checkpoints in the territory of Brest Region since February 1. The information is posted on the National Legal Internet Portal of the Republic of Belarus.

The fee is to be introduced until January 1, 2025. Its rate will be 1 basic unit (from January 1, 2023, 1 BB is Br37). A similar fee will also be levied in Vitebsk and Grodno regions.

In Brest Region, the fee will be exempted for vehicles, traveling after the funeral of family members and close relatives in Belarus with supporting documents. In addition, foreign nationals traveling after a stay in sanatorium treatment and recreation in health-resort and recreational organizations of Belarus do not have to pay the fee, provided they have supporting documents. Foreigners and stateless persons are exempt from the fee in the presence of documents confirming the severity of physical disability and participation of 75-100%, issued by the competent authorities of the State of citizenship or habitual residence, citizens leaving Belarus on the decision (decision) of the competent authorities to deport (expulsion), as well as those for whom a visa-free entry and exit in connection with the International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk", in the presence of documents. Also, Belarusian citizens who are sent outside the country for medical care and the persons accompanying them will not have to pay the fee, if the decision of the Commission for the sending of Belarusian citizens outside the country for medical care at the Ministry of Health.
