Sociologists: More than 70% of Belarusians consider Victory Day a key national holiday
The majority of Belarusians believe that Victory Day is one of the key events in the history of the nation. On the eve of May 9, Belarusian scientists conducted a research, according to which over 70% of respondents shared the importance of the forthcoming holiday.
Nikolai Myslivets, Director of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus:
“The results of our research show that this attitude is typical of representatives of various age groups of society. More than 60% of boys and girls, young people under 25, surveyed by us, note the importance of this event. And more than 75% of representatives of older generations over 45 years of age note that Victory Day is certainly the most important event in the life of Belarusian society.”
Belarusian sociologists also note that the conclusions made on the basis of the conducted research confirm the trend of many years: the memory of our people's deed is alive. In view of the events developing in the world, reminders of the preservation of peace are not mere words. Peace is a value that we must preserve and pass on to the next generations.
