Remains of 42 Soviet soldiers reburied with military honors near village of Noviki, Vitebsk Кegion
They died in the winter of 1944 during fierce battles on the outskirts of Vitebsk. The front stood here for six months until the beginning of Bagration Operatio. According to the 33rd Army's combat log, for 15 days in February and 10 days of March, losses amounted to 40 thousand people. In August, a search team from Belarus and Russia gathered at the site of the heroic events. During the international memory watch, the remains of the soldiers were recovered. The search teams intend to return here next spring. In the meantime, they are working with the archives.
