Belarusian crew comes third in second race of Tank Biathlon
The Belarusian crew finished third in the second heat of the Tank Biathlon race. The result was 27 minutes 58 seconds. The race was held at the Alabino shooting range. Something went wrong with all the teams from the start. According to the rules, the first shot must be made in 20 seconds. The crew from Kyrgyzstan didn't make it in that time and got a penalty lap. Russia had a tank change and three penalty laps. The Belarusians had one miss and lost time aiming at the third target. But then our crew (almost all of them are novices) managed to cope with the excitement and all the other stages were passed cleanly and without a single error.
Valentin Radiush, tank commander of the Belarusian Tank Biathlon team:
“Since this is our first time at these competitions, there was a little excitement, but we overcame it. The crew coped with the task in full. The course was a little bit difficult, but we were ready. The main thing is to believe in yourself and your crew. Our rivals are strong; we tried not to give them a head start. We managed to do it.”
The third race of the individual competition will take place on Sunday, August 21. This year there are 21 teams in the "Tank biathlon". Only eight will make it to the semi-finals. They will compete in the relay. The four best crews will compete for prizes in the finals.
