Hostages of situation - 500 trucks stuck at Belarusian-Polish border
500 trucks are queuing at the Belarusian-Polish border. The traffic jam stretches for 14 kilometers. And it's only on the side of Belarus. According to the drivers, the queue at the Polish border is even longer. On Monday, Poland made another unfriendly decision. Non-European license plates' trucks are forbidden to cross the last open border crossing "Kukuryki" (on the Belarusian side - "Kozlovichi"). Moldovan and Kazakh drivers are now in an even worse situation. Those who failed to cross the Belarusian-Polish border before the ban, found themselves trapped in a foreign country with their cargo. After all, they have no permission to go through Lithuania.
"They didn't have time to enter Poland until 19:00 February 21 - they were turned back by the border guards at the entrance. People became hostages of the situation. And now where to go?" - the driver is indignant.
Dmitry Demenchuk, head of customs post "Kozlovichi":
"According to the Polish side, this measure is aimed at Belarusian carriers, but last April Poland has already imposed restrictions on Belarusian vehicles, and the current measure is more concerned about the carriers that are registered in Kazakhstan, Armenia, Moldova and other countries. Now these carriers have to take routes through the Baltics and change their logistics."
Belarusian Customs is now taking all measures to process transport as quickly as possible. But the length of the queue also depends on the work of Polish customs, which does not always work fast.
