Economic cooperation between Belarus and Russia steadily growing
Russia and Belarus have always been strategic partners. And under the conditions of unfriendly actions of certain countries, the realization of the main directions of economic integration has noticeably accelerated.
This opinion was shared by Russian expert Maxim Chirkov. According to him, Western sanctions only contribute to the successful development of economic cooperation between the two countries in various spheres.
Maxim Chirkov, associate professor at the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University, political scientist:
I think Alexander Lukashenko's statement that the economies of Russia and Belarus will reach the pre-sanctions level is quite correct and justified. The economy of the Union State has received serious support in terms of relative competitiveness. Now we can be calm about the economic growth of Russia and Belarus and the Union State as a whole. At the meeting of the Presidents, they said separately that 2024 will be very good in terms of the economy.
Difficulties in the economy were also discussed at the meeting. "But everyone agreed that fundamentally the economy of the Union State is growing and is ready for even greater growth precisely due to the fact that our main competitors are European companies. They, first of all, have left our markets for Russian and Belarusian companies. The second point is that our main competitors have very much increased costs associated with higher prices for energy and raw materials," Maxim Chirkov added.
