Makei: Belarus calls on all nations to stop attempts to solve domestic problems at expense of neighbors

In most countries of the world, as well as in Belarus, the issue of national minorities is overwhelmingly the issue of neighbors. And neighbors, as you know, are not chosen. This was noted by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Makei on September 21 during the session of the UN General Assembly on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities.

"It is a responsible neighborhood, based on equality of states, mutual respect for state sovereignty and the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, that guarantees that the factor of national minorities will not be a dividing factor, but rather a factor enriching the development of a particular country," said Vladimir Makei.

"We call on all countries to stop trying to solve the problems of its population at the expense of neighbors. This is a path to interstate conflicts. In the end, both sides will lose," said the minister.
