Alexander Lukashenko meets with Member of European Parliament Rolandas Paksas
The geopolitical situation in Central and Eastern Europe, safety, as well as the construction of the Belarusian NPP were discussed today at the Palace of Independence by the President of Belarus and Member of the European Parliament Rolandas Paksas. The politician is former President of Lithuania.
Rolandas Paksas arrived on a visit to Minsk on his own initiative. This is his first to visit our country. During conversation Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus wants to have peaceful and friendly relations with Lithuania. Rolandas Paksas shared with journalists his vision of the situation in the region. As noted by the politician, he has a dream: to completely eliminate military threat from the Central and Eastern Europe. Conflicts can only be resolved through diplomacy.
Belarus and the European Parliament are actively negotiating in various fields. So, three years ago EU deputies approved the distribution of the mandate of the European Investment Bank to Belarus. They will work on the problem of visa facilitation. Lithuania is one of the leading partners of Belarus in the region. So, in 2018 mutual trade amounted to more than half a billion dollars.
