Lukashenko: Belarusian journalists in the current reality are fighters, defenders, strategists and tacticians
Belarusian journalists in the current reality are fighters, defenders, strategists and tacticians. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in Mogilev at the Forum of the media community of Belarus, BelTA reports.
“You and I live in a very difficult but very interesting time, especially for those who literally write the history of our country and their own history,” said Alexander Lukashenko.
The head of state noted that the theme of the forum is the role of a journalist in the conditions of society transformation and it always sounds relevant.
“Well done for considering your role, it is a critical look at your existence and your work, among other things. We talk about this role, and not only of a journalist, all the time. The times are like this. It has brought the profession of journalism to the forefront, making the media community a powerful actor in political discourse. We often meet with media representatives in different formats, and we see many of them almost every day as part of my service and your work. I know that you feel the nerve of the era of information confrontation, or the so-called war of meanings, like no one else. You live it. In this reality you are fighters, defenders, strategists and tacticians, while information is a resource, a commodity and a weapon,” Alexander Lukashenko emphasized.
