Lukashenko: Relations between Belarus and the Holy See are a vivid example of trustful cooperation

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated Pope Francis on the anniversary of the solemn beginning of the Pontificate, the press service of the Belarusian leader reported.

"All over the world you are known as a kind and wise man who cares about spreading the eternal Christian ideals of peace, understanding and love. Today your activity acquires a rare value and significance both for the Catholic flock and for various confessions. I fully agree with your recent words that trust-based contacts based on respect, which act as a barrier against hatred, violence and injustice, are very important now," the message of greetings reads.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that the relationship between Belarus and the Holy See is a vivid example of such cooperation. "I hope our example will help others to realize that this is the most effective way of interaction. It is not pressure, imposition of someone else's will and vision, threats, but only constructive dialog, equal treatment, ability to hear the partner that can achieve unprecedented results," the President emphasized.
