Lukashenko: Veterans of Great Patriotic War are the guardians of truth and the counterweight to those who deny the genocide of the Belarusian people and whitewash Nazism
Veterans of the Great Patriotic War are the guardians of truth and a counterweight to those who deny the genocide of the Belarusian people and whitewash Nazism. This was stated by Alexander Lukashenko at the ceremony of presentation of state awards. Also, the Belarusian President gave a "combat assignment" to the famous frontline and all veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
"I am very happy that today there is a wonderful woman in this hall, who belongs exactly to the military generation. This is Valentina Baranova. A front-line woman who reached Prague, a telegraph operator, an athlete. Valentina Petrovna, you will be 5 times 20 in November. One can only dream of that!" - Alexander Lukashenko remarked.
Valentina Baranova is involved in the work of the council of veterans of Grodno, leads an active life. The President thanked all the veterans and war veterans in her person. "A low bow to those who fought at the front, fought the enemy in the occupied territory, survived in concentration camps and worked selflessly in the rear," said the head of state.
"And I have a big request to you, even a combat assignment: live as long as possible, continue to educate our young people. It will be very difficult for us without you," Alexander Lukashenko addressed the veterans.
"Thank you, guys, for your excellent service!" The President also gave a special place in his speech to representatives of the law enforcement agencies. Their work is now more important for the country than ever before.
The awardees included representatives of the Operational and Analytical Center under the President and the State Committee for Forensic Examinations, employees of the State Security Committee, the Interior Ministry and the Border Guards Service. "All those who have recently been neutralizing those saboteurs who have been sneaking into our territory. As you can see, history is repeating itself. Thank you guys for your excellent service. What you do is a daily victory over our enemy, unscrupulous and ruthless. But we are stronger. Because we have the truth behind us. Just like in the Great Patriotic War, we are defending our home, our children," said Alexander Lukashenko.
"With all my heart I congratulate you on your deserved awards. I wish you strong health, well-being and inspiration. Happy Victory Day! May this nationally favorite holiday and a special ceremony timed to coincide with it serve as a guiding star for you on the way to new professional and life successes," the head of state wished.
President conferred state awards
The President also noted that on the eve of Victory Day state awards are presented to those, who, like the heroic fathers, mothers and grandfathers of Belarusians, have spared no effort, time and sometimes life for the benefit of their native country. Awards are bestowed upon teachers and doctors, cultural figures, scientists, industrialists and builders. The President also presented the Order of Labour Glory to the company Molochny Mir, the Order of Honour to the director general of the Narochansky National Park, Vasily Korzhov, and a member of the district branch of the veterinary service.
