Before the summit of the CIS countries Governor Alexander Beglov had a working contact with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, Sputnik reports.
The Days of St. Petersburg in Minsk and the 13th meeting of the Council of Business Cooperation between St. Petersburg and Belarus are scheduled for April 2023.
The cooperation between St. Petersburg and the Republic of Belarus is one of the most successful examples in the CIS thanks to the cooperation with St. Petersburg administration. Alexander Beglov pointed out that 2 148 units of equipment produced in Belarus were delivered to St. Petersburg this year. The head of St. Petersburg emphasized that youth exchanges are an important area of cooperation.
A group of Belarusian high school students and their teachers are going to visit St. Petersburg during the winter vacations. Belarusian schoolchildren will have an interesting excursion program. They will visit the Russian Museum, the Hermitage, the Smolny Cathedral and the Gazprom Arena stadium. Teachers at the Talent Academy will hold a class for them at the media center.
Alexander Beglov noted that January 18 will be marked the 80th anniversary of the breakthrough of the blockade of Leningrad. In St. Petersburg and Leningrad region will be held commemorative events. Residents of besieged Leningrad, living in the Republic of Belarus, will be invited to attend them.
"We are always happy to host blockade survivors, veterans from Belarus. These people are dear to us. Together we are responsible to future generations for keeping the memory of the war and the heroism of our people," said Alexander Beglov.
