Should unrest break out all over Russia, Lukashenko would be ready to defend Moscow, like in 1941
The situation in Russia in case of a continuing armed uprising would have an impact on Belarus. That is why it was important to take joint actions in order to prevent a negative scenario. The President made relevant statements at the ceremony of presentation of ranks to the senior officers, revealing details of his June 24 talks with the head of the Cheka "Vagner" Yevgeny Prigozhin, BelTA informs.
"I say, Zhenya, no one will give you Shoigu or Gerasimov, no one, especially in this situation. You know Putin as well as I do. Secondly, he won't even talk to you on the phone, let alone with you, given the current situation. Silence. "But we want justice! They want to strangle us! We'll go to Moscow!" I said: "Halfway through, they'll just crush you like a bedbug. Despite the fact that the troops (Putin told me about this for a long time) are diverted on the corresponding front." Think about it, I say. "No" - such is the euphoria," said the President.
Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that the developing situation in Russia would eventually affect Belarus as well, that is why he tried to persuade Yevgeny Prigozhin to stop the troops' movement: "I persuaded him for a long time. And in the end I said: "You know, you can do whatever you want. But don't be offended with me. The brigade is prepared to be moved to Moscow. And, like in '41 (you read books, you are an educated, intelligent man), we will defend Moscow. Because this situation is not only in Russia. It's not just because this is our Fatherland. But because, God forbid, this turmoil would have spread throughout Russia, and the prerequisites for that were enormous; we were next in line.
