Alexander Lukashenko meets with Ambassador of Tajikistan
The President of Tajikistan will make an official visit to Belarus in summer. It is expected that it will take place on the eve of the closing of the II European Games.
Emomali Rahmon will arrive in Minsk for a few days at the personal invitation of the Head of the Belarusian State. The agenda of this visit and the overall development of bilateral relations were discussed today at the Palace of Independence with the ambassador of this Central Asian republic in Belarus. Last year, the trade turnover between the countries decreased slightly and amounted to about 37.5 million dollars. Despite a slight decline, Belarus is still among the twenty largest trading partners of Tajikistan. An increase in the figure of mutual trade is promised by the projects indicated in the roadmap of the two countries adopted until 2020.
During the meeting, another project was discussed: Belarusian-Tajik Friendship Gardens. The first seedlings of grapes, apples, cherries and apricots were planted in the Brest region in April. In Tajikistan, there will also be a Belarusian-Tajik Friendship Cherry Orchard. The project is being implemented on behalf of the heads of the two states. Such an idea was born during the official visit of Alexander Lukashenko to Dushanbe in May last year.
The countries consider high value-added products to be the growth point of the bilateral cooperation. The priority is also in the field of engineering and industrial cooperation, agriculture. Representative offices of more than a dozen Belarusian brands (MTZ, MAZ, Amkodor, BelAZ, Gomselmash) work in Tajikistan. This fall, it is expected that a joint venture for milk processing will be commissioned. In the future, the launch of a meat processing plant is planned.
