Prosecutor General's Office on measures of responsibility for participation in unauthorized events
This is the statistics of all criminal cases, according to the information of the Prosecutor General's Office, which are related to mass disturbances. In total, more than 400 criminal cases have been initiated since 9 August. All of these episodes are related to the organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, resistance or violence against police officers - desecration and damage to property, and hooliganism. All these facts are under investigation. Many suspects have already been brought to justice.
"I would like to note that the damage caused by unlawful actions was often voluntarily compensated by the accused even at the preliminary investigation stage. This primarily concerns damage to service vehicles of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other property, monuments, road pavement, state symbols.
In other cases, the public prosecutors file claims for compensation for the damage caused. A number of people have already been convicted, including those sentenced to deprivation of liberty.
Public prosecutors, taking into account the circumstances of the crimes, urge the courts to impose the most severe punishment against the accused."
The prosecutor's office explained that resistance to a police officer with the use or threat of violence leads to deprivation of liberty for up to five years. It should be noted that prosecutors call law enforcement agencies to implement the principle of inevitability of responsibility and to identify all persons who have committed offences and crimes against public order.
