Belarusians going to Paris for the Olympics and perform in neutral status
The XXXIII Summer Olympic Games will start in Paris on July 26. More than 10 thousand athletes from more than 200 countries will compete for 329 sets of awards in 32 sports. Belarusian athletes will perform there in a neutral status, reports sport5.by.
Perhaps, this is the first time in the sovereign history of Belarus, when one should be indifferent to the medal race and just cheer for each Olympian. Yes, our athletes will be in Paris, but due to the obvious political influence of the hands of international sports officials, a lot of measures have been taken to make the names of our compatriots lost in the depths of the final protocols.
As you know, back on December 8, 2023, the International Olympic Committee announced that Belarusians would be admitted to the Games in a neutral status and in case of successful qualification.
Each athlete was ordered to qualify individually, while the teams from our country and Russia were immediately cut off. Thomas Bach's office sent these recommendations to the sports federations, most of which depend on the IOC financially, so they obeyed. But there were also those who, without explaining any clear reasons, stonewalled, such as the head of World Athletics, Sebastian Coe. That's why nine of our athletes will stay at home with their qualification standards fulfilled at home starts. As well as gymnasts from Belarus and Russia - it is obvious that it is much more exciting to win medals without favorites.
