Who represents Belarus on international chess arena?

The new generation in Belarusian chess is increasingly making itself known on the international arena. Denis Lazovik and Maxim Tsaruk worthily represented Belarus at the world championship in Rapid and Blitz in Samarkand. Maksim Tsaruk, a student of BNTU and a pupil of the Republican Center of Olympic Reserve in chess, won two stages of the Russian Cup in 2023.

Why the guy chose this particular sport. What the title of FIDE master means and how much they earn in chess, told Stanislav Lipsky.

"Chess for me is first of all a pleasure - an outlet, if you want," says one of the leaders of the Belarusian men's national chess team, 18-year-old Maxim Tsaruk. The BNTU student spends the first half of the day studying at the university, but the second half - devotes to his favorite game, with which he became acquainted at the age of five.

Thousands of hours at the chessboard are behind him, and in 2023 Maxim has results with the prefix top. First there was victory in St Petersburg at the Korchnoi Memorial in August, and a little later a triumph at a tournament in Khanty-Mansiysk, again as part of the Russian Cup stage.

Today Maxim is a FIDE Master. Next in line is the title of Master of Sport International Class

Chess players began to enter the world arena at a much earlier age than it was 50 years ago. Belarus is no exception. Maksim's main rival within the national team - Denis Lazovik - is now only 17 years old.
