150 trucks in line: Poland restricts movement of trucks at last border crossing with Belarus
The Polish Border Agency informed the Belarusian side that the movement of trucks, except for those registered in the EU or the European Free Trade Association, would be problematic at the checkpoint "Kukuryki" at 21:00 February 21. Only the checkpoint "Terespol" (on the Belarusian side it is "Brest") remains for passenger vehicles.
The State Border Committee of Belarus recommends taking this information into account when planning border crossing. We remind you that it was announced on February 17 that Polish trucks and tractors would be restricted from entry into the territory of Belarus.
This is our response to the unfriendly actions. The relevant decision was taken in the government. The movement of trucks, registered in the Republic of Poland, will now be carried out only through the Belarusian-Polish section of the border.
150 trucks in line: Poland restricts the movement of trucks at the last border crossing with Belarus
Poland is closing the border crossing point "Kukuryki" for Belarusian vans. The ban will come into force at 21:00 February 21. It is difficult to imagine what kind of collapse will result from the next hostile action of the neighboring country, because now there is a huge queue of trucks in the area of Biala Podlaska. The traffic jam stretches for 60 kilometers.
The situation on the Belarusian side is not easy, either. Ordinary drivers suffer most from the decision of the Polish officials. They are standing on the side of the road with no infrastructure for twenty-four hours.
Poland warned about its decision to close the Bobrowniki border crossing less than a day in advance. Trucks, cars and passenger buses had to make an emergency U-turn and go in the direction of Brest. The neighboring country explained it as an action in the interests of national security. Ordinary Belarusians were completely incomprehensible to such a gesture. What kind of danger are we talking about when Belarus is open?
Belarus' reaction was a new government regulation. It's planned to restrict access to the territory of Belarus for Polish trucks and tractors. On the whole, there is a consensus on the updated concept, as well as the basis of the document. We are also expecting a public discussion of the draft as another example of the people's participation in government.
