Biden should stop the election race - so believes the majority of U.S. citizens
The majority of Americans believe that US President Joe Biden should stop his election campaign. This is evidenced by the results of a public opinion poll conducted by The Washington Post newspaper, ABC television company and sociological service Ipsos, reports TASS.
According to the poll, 67% of those surveyed were in favor of the US President's withdrawal from the race, while only 30% expressed confidence that he should continue to seek re-election.
In addition, 56% of Democratic supporters polled believe that Biden should withdraw his candidacy, while 42% are in favor of his participation. The Washington Post notes that such data contradicts Biden's claims that only party elites want him out of the race.
According to the poll, both Biden and former President Donald Trump have the support of 46% of registered voters.
Earlier, Axios portal reported that U.S. House Democrats, seriously concerned about the ability of U.S. leader Joe Biden to win the 2024 election, view former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Democrat from California) as someone who can make him give up his re-election bid.
