Opinion poll: Lithuanians do not want nuclear burial ground on their country's territory
The majority of Lithuanians are extremely disapproving of the idea of the government to build a nuclear burial ground on the territory of the country, this is evidenced by a recent opinion poll.
So far, the authorities have selected 77 locations for this purpose. The burial ground should be used to bury radioactive materials that will remain after the complete dismantling of the Ignalina nuclear power plant. The volume of such waste is estimated at tens of thousands of tons.
Now Lithuanian activists are collecting signatures to get this issue considered not at the national level, but at the level of the European Union.
