IDF fires heavy artillery at 15 population centers in Lebanon
The situation in the Middle East has escalated, with the IDF shelling 15 localities in Lebanon with heavy artillery. This was in response to Saturday's Hezbollah strike on a settlement in the Golan Heights, where 12 people, including children, were killed. And while the movement denied involvement in the incident, Israel decided to carry out the massive attack after receiving de facto authorization from Washington. The White House issued a statement that Hezbollah was responsible for the rocket attack. In its turn, today Hezbollah reported hitting Israeli army positions in border communities. After the escalation in the Middle East, the President of Turkey announced the possible introduction of troops into Israel.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish President:
Just as we entered Karabakh, entered Libya, we will do the same with them. Nothing is impossible. We just need to be strong to make such steps.
With this statement, Erdogan once again emphasized his readiness to support Palestine by any means. Earlier, the Turkish leader repeatedly criticized Tel Aviv for the operation in the Gaza Strip. In a bid to keep the situation under control, the White House warned Israel that a strike on Beirut could become a “red line.” The Lebanese capital's international airport has already stopped receiving and dispatching airplanes. Due to the escalation of the situation, the US, Norwegian and Irish authorities have asked their residents to leave Lebanon.
