Environmentalists send protests to European Commission against construction of border wall by Poland

Will the environmental community be heard? Over 700 scientists have sent a protest to the European Commission against Poland's construction of a border wall. They demand an immediate examination of the possible negative effect of the fence on valuable species and nature conservation areas, in particular, on the Bialowieza Forest. Among others, scientists of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the major universities, employees of scientific institutes and also their colleagues from Sweden, Denmark, Italy and other countries put their signatures under the document. Ordinary citizens also oppose the construction of the border fence. The partial Poles have already started collecting signatures for a petition in defense of nature.
