In Latvia law-enforcers have already opened 3 criminal and 20 administrative cases on the background of the scandal with the monument to the Liberators in Riga. All those who decided to honor the deed of the Soviet people were called criminals, by the authorities justifying the genocide.

The cynicism reaching the point of absurdity caused a backlash. In Moscow, a line of those who want to lay flowers lined up in front of the Latvian embassy. Hundreds of people took part in a peculiar protest against the war on memory.
