More than 45 museums in Scotland may close: the country has no money for culture
In Scotland there is no money for culture. More than 45 museums and galleries are at risk of closing within a year. The reason for the crisis is the reduction of funding from both the Scottish government and regional authorities. Many museums are already operating on the brink of bankruptcy and cannot even afford to pay staff salaries. A recent study showed that 11% of Scotland's museums could close within a year, and 14% of them have enough money for only one month's work.
