2 masterpieces of sacred art added to collections of National Art Museum of Belarus
Our crew is the first one to demonstrate the icons of St. Nicholas of the early XX century and the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the XIX century. They were purchased from private collectors by a philanthropist, who wished to remain incognito. The uniqueness of the icons is that they were written by Old Believer masters in the territory of the former Bobruisk Uyezd. The artists adhered to Byzantine and Russian examples of icon painting.
In total, the funds of the National Art Museum contain about 550 icons and altar paintings. The oldest one dates from the 15th century.
