Tsitovich National Academic Folk Choir of Belarus turns 70
The Tsitovich National Academic Folk Choir of Belarus is 70 years old. The choir was created in 1952 on the basis of a small choir in the village of Bolshoye Podlesye, Brest Region. The first leader and inspirer of the choir was the choral conductor, folklorist, ethnographer, People's Artiste of the USSR, whose name the choir carries to this day - Gennady Tsitovich. Afterwards, his traditions were continued by Mikhail Drinevsky, People's Artiste of Belarus, Professor, expert in music folklore, who has been at the head of the choir for 45 years till the end of his days.
On March 16, the Big Hall of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society will host a concert dedicated to the anniversary of the foundation of the Tsitovich Folk Choir.
