Personal exhibition of Belarusian sculptor Eduard Astafiev opens in Minsk
The whole epoch of the Soviet times is demonstrated in the works of sculptor Eduard Astafiev. His personal exhibition opened in the Exhibition Hall named after Andrei Bembel. Eduard Astafiev is a master of the classic image, but his sculptures are created from a variety of materials that experimentally conflict with one another: bronze, steel, aluminium, stone, wood and sometimes pieces of iron, boulder or glass. Among Astafiev's famous monumental works is the monument to Francis Skaryna in Prague. He also devoted many of his works to the theme of the Great Patriotic War.
Next year, Eduard Astafiev, a student of the BSSR People's Artists Andrei Bembel and Alexei Glebov, will celebrate his 80th anniversary.
