Reconstruction at Historical Museum of Belarus within the framework of new exhibition
The historical reconstruction at the Historical Museum of Belarus is carried out for a new project. One will be able to see the knight’s armor and learn the subtleties of blacksmithing. The exposed military gear will be also used for thematic festivals.
Pavel Sapotko, director of the National History Museum of Belarus: "The helmet and shoulder straps are just a few items of the cavalryman dress code in the 14th - 16th centuries. Mounted knights bore 20 kilograms of iron. And many of these items were considered rather ceremonial, than combat. The real weapon is represented by swords. Some of them are made of Damascus steel."
Three historical periods are represented: the early, high and late Middle Ages in the territory of Belarus.
