Restoration of Old Castle in Grodno included in state investment program

The royal residence with a thousand year history has been repeatedly rebuilt. It encompasses many eras and architectural styles. Now it is the Historical and Archaeological Museum. The restoration of the monument began last fall. It will be held in three stages. The entrance gate, gallery and the middle tower are included in the first stage of construction works.

Financing of restoration work is carried out at the expense of the national and regional budgets. The castle is included in the state investment program. One of the iconic architectural elements of the former palace will be the dome over the entrance gate.

The restoration works of the 21st century will preserve the elements of all eras and historical periods. Moreover, very interesting and valuable architectural details of the castle have been found. The reconstructions will used historical references and documents stored in the funds of Lithuania, Poland and Italy.
