Slavic Bazaar officially open. President arrives at Vitebsk festival
Slavic Bazaar festival is officially open. The first day was really intense. It featured the ceremony of raising the flag, the opening of a new name star, the streets of artisans.
The City of Masters is probably the starting point of the festival route. It presents exclusively author's works and the unique ancient technologies, many of which are already forgotten. Some of them date back to the 17th and 18th centuries. City streets, local yards - the whole city is one big stage.
The President also came to the solemn part of the holiday. Alexander Lukashenko said to the audience that he is overwhelmed with feelings of joy and pride - the Belarusians have preserved the tradition of the festival, which is almost 30 years old.
Alexander Lukashenko is a regular guest of the festival. Even the working schedule of the head of state was adjusted to the Slavic Bazaar. Meeting local authorities, opening a bridge, visiting a military unit - the President’s working trip program is very rich, but hardly anyone doubted that the President will take part in a big Slavic holiday.
Hundreds of singers of different nationalities perform on this stage from year to year. In 29 years it welcomes almost 80 guest states. Perhaps, only Antarctica hasn't "reached" Vitebsk yet. Despite conflicts and challenges, there is always peace and understanding. Art is definitely out of politics.
Philip Kirkorov wins special award
Special award "Through art to peace and understanding" went to one of the most popular Slavic performers. Philip Kirkorov has received the award from the hands of the President. His name will be shining on the Walk of Stars. This year the Slavic Bazaar will last until Sunday.
