Slutsk Museum of local lore opens funds and presented exhibition of icon painting

Slutsk museum of local lore opened funds and presented an exhibition of icon painting. Fifty works of spiritual art in the exposition "Icons marvelous light". These are images of the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries. In total, 180 units of sacred art are stored in the museum's vaults: these are images and icon frames.

The basis of the collection of icons in the Slutsk Museum of Local Lore is made up of confiscated icons. The Grodno and Brest Customs Offices transferred the icons to the museum. There are also gifts from local residents - these are family icons that have been prayed for centuries. One of the most revered icons, St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, is painted in the manner of the Belarusian icon-painting school.
